Dexteyra builds support for Canadian Red Cross on Haiti Relief Work
PRESS RELEASE: January 18th, 2010
Dexteyra has pledged to mobilize corporate and individual support for the cause of Canadian Red Cross for Haiti Relief work. We are mobilizing monitory and material support through our network of Management Consultants and our Clients across North America for the cause of Haiti. We are also working closely with organizations such as Doctors without Borders, Care Canada, Oxfam and Save the Children and monitoring the situation to play and active role during the Phase 2 of relief operations in the Island Nation. Dexteyra is committed to mobilize civilian aid workers, material, and logistics support to Haiti.
"Mobilizing civilian aid and material relief is particularly difficult in Haiti due to bottleneck capacity of the airport at Port-au-Prince which is already over-packed with Military and UN Relief aircrafts from all over the world", says Mr. M.S. Oberoi, Director & Principal Consultant. Mandeep has previously worked with USA based United Sikhs to mobilize North American aid during Tsunami and hurricane Katrina tragedies.
We are closely monitoring the logistics congestion and working with various North American Aid groups who are exploring newer strategies to mobilize aid through ships, to air drop relief materials, and to transport through neighboring islands such as the Dominican Republic. We are witnessing that a huge capacity has built up because so many private air and ship carriers have offered help. Challenge for the umbrella aid groups is to optimally utilize these resources to expedite relief work while ensuring that the logistics pipeline does not get clogged-up. Challenge for the complimentary aid groups such as ours is to generate resources such as monitory, material, and civilian aid for the umbrella groups from across the world.
A catastrophic magnitude 7.0 Mw earthquake with the epicenter near Léogane, approximately 25 kilometres (16 mi) west of Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti, hit at 16:53:10 local time on Tuesday, 12 January 2010. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 13 kilometres (8.1 mi). The United States Geological Survey recorded a series of at least 33 aftershocks. The International Red Cross estimated that about three million people were affected by the quake, and up to 200,000 have died as a result of the disaster.
Currently, the people in the island country are going through mass human sufferings that have triggered international humanitarian support. In addition to medical and sanitary aid, there is a pile of dead bodies that needs to be immediately cleared to prevent spread of diseases as well as to provide food, medicines, and relief aids to help the people of Haiti. To make any contributions, please connect to Canadian Red Cross or email to info@dexteyra.com.
